It has a semi-translucent indigo film backing designed to provide some visual clarity for alignment during application.

Designed with unique stretch properties, this tape conforms to rough, irregular, curved and convex surfaces. Tape remains stretched, without lifting to avoid paint bleed. The rubber adhesive offers quick stick and excellent holding strength on most substrates. 3M™ Vinyl Tape 471+ can be used in bake cycles at Temperatures up to 250ºF/121ºC for up to 30 minutes. The rubber adhesive aggressively adheres to a variety of surfaces and maintains its bond for long periods of time, including up to one year in outdoor applications.

This combination of the backing and adhesive properties help to keep the tape securely in place, even in rugged and outdoor conditions. Because of the thicker backing, this tape is ideal for protection in areas where heavy abrasion is anticipated, as well as sand blast and bead blast overspray protection. 3M™ Vinyl Tape 472 tape resists most common solvents, but care should be taken to avoid using on highly plasticized materials, as well as ketones, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and esters.

Expanding Your Capabilities in Do-it-Yourself Vehicle Repair
Bondo® Fiberglass Cloth Tape provides structural reinforcement for stronger repairs and must be used with Bondo® Fiberglass Resin PN 401, 402, 404 (sold separately). The product repairs holes, cracks and gaps. When used with Bondo® Fiberglass Resin, repairs are 100% waterproof, making the products ideal for tub, shower, sink, pool, hot tub, boat repair and more. Bondo® Fiberglass Cloth Tape is slightly thinner than fiberglass mat, making it easier to work with and easier to hide when finishing. This product can also be used on additional surfaces such as wood, concrete and metal to provide extremely strong, durable and waterproof repairs.

Reinforced Repair Areas
When properly used with Bondo® Fiberglass Resin, Bondo® Fiberglass Cloth Tape reinforces repair areas and allows for repainting so that the repair looks like the original surface once the job is complete. Fiberglass cloth tape comes in convenient 4" width, ideal for smaller repairs and for reinforcing seams. You can easily cut it to specific sizes and shapes for customized repairs on automobiles. To complete the repair, you'll add layers of fiberglass cloth along with fiberglass resin to fill the hole. Once the patched area has cured, it can be sanded smoothly so that it is level with the surrounding surface. A fiberglass repair completed with resin and cloth is fully compatible with being painted.

Fiberglass cloth tape features a woven fabric that helps reinforce repairs with its high strength to weight ratio. Use our fiberglass cloth tape where resin alone would not provide sufficient strength. Fiberglass cloth tape offers numerous benefits, including a resistance to expansion or contraction as Temperatures change. Fiberglass cloth tape will not absorb moisture and is non-flammable.
